Fabricating Faces Class

I took a class at QSC (Quilter's of SC) this past weekend that was wonderful!. Marilyn Wall taught us how to take a photo and make it into a work of art using just 4 fabrics. No painting, just fabric. My daughter took a great photo of Isaac, my grandson, and I was able to make this from the photo in about 9 hrs. The lightest fabric is a little too light, but the teacher said it was the best ear she'd every seen!

Ribbons

This month I've added 5 more blue ribbons to my bulletin board.
One was for my Earlene Fowler duffle bag and tote at the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Show in Fountain Inn. I also got four at the SC State Fair for the FPQG Show quilt, a new sailboat quilt, Black and White Lime Squeeze, and a blue leaf purse.
I've filled one bulletin board and have a second one that I need to spray paint black before I put it up in my quilting studio.

ABM Innova Longarm

My dear husband came into my sewing room and told me to smile. The room looks like a mess and that's why no one but family is allowed in my sewing room. Here I'm quilting a Christmas quilt with my wonderful ABM Innova Longarm Machine with AutoPilot. I continue to work on creating new designs for my customers quilts. This week I quilted coffee cups with steam and music.

Fabric Painting

Yesterday I stretched outside of my normal quilting box and took a class on wholecloth quilt painting from Susan Brubaker Knapp. We had 3 photos of hers to chose from. I painted this 8x10 in class. I still have some shading to do on the red leaf and then I'll quilt it. Looks pretty good to me so far (for someone who doesn't paint!)

FPQG Show Quilt

I'm in charge of the Foothills Piecemakers Quilting Guild show quilt this year. It's finally finished! Various members of the guild made the leaf blocks. I then added the triangles around each block, assembled the quilt, make the border while in Omaha, Nebraska, quilted it, etc. Tickets are $1 donation. The drawing for the quilt will take place at the close of our quilt show April 21, 2012. The quilt measures 92"x104". Let me know how many tickets you want...

Blueberry Festival

The Roper Mountain Science Center had a Blueberry Festival and requested quilts to display. I loaned one of my favorite lap quilts I made in 2008. All of the center is made from one fabric cut up in triangles. The border shows what the fabric originally looked like. It won 2nd place!

"Fire" quilt

I started this quilt while I was visiting my daughter and her family in March. Thankfully the piecing doesn't require accuracy since I was having to use my 1985 Kenmore that I had passed down to her. I used a varigated thread in a flame design pattern. I think it would look great in several other color combinations. Viking Sew n' Quilt has a 40 strip set for most of the fabric. Just add 10 to 20 one eighth yard pieces to complete the quilt top.
